The Critical Care Unit in Salford is one of the largest critical care units in the UK. We have a team of over 200 staff including doctors, nurses, therapists and many support staff.
Our patients come from all over Greater Manchester and sometimes from further away. Many patients come because Salford Royal Hospital is the main trauma hospital for Greater Manchester as well as being the Greater Manchester Neurosciences Centre. We are also a national referral centre for intestinal failure and we host many other specialist departments. Having theses services means that the unit is supported by teams of internationally recognised consultants and other specialists who all provide help and support for our patients. Having such specialist services on site also means that we have access to the best diagnostic and treatment facilities to help our patients.
Being such a large unit with so many facilities risks making us seem a little impersonal. The hospital’s mission is to be ‘Safe Clean and Personal’ and we are doing our best to live up to this. The information provided on this website aims to help you get to know who we are and what we are trying to achieve for our patients.
